Dr. Martin W. Hüfner is Chief Economist of Assenagon. In this function he contributes his experience of many years and his well-founded knowledge to the product development and investment process. For many years he had been director of the economics department of Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and Chief Economist of HypoVereinsbank in Munich. He was the first chairman of the renowned Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the European Banking Association in Brussels. In addition, for ten years he was chairman resp. deputy chairman of the Economic and Monetary Policy Committee of the German Banking Association. He was one of the first members of the Shadow Committee of the European Central Bank, which was organised by the Handelsblatt and the Wall Street Journal. Martin Hüfner is a regular columnist of "Finanz und Wirtschaft" in Zurich and writes for big German und international papers. He has published several books, among them "Europe – the power of tomorrow" (2006), "Comeback for Germany" (2007) and "Save the Euro!" (2011). He studied economics in Paris and in Munich and holds the degrees of Diplom-Volkswirt and PhD in Economics. Dr. Martin W. Hüfner holds numerous honorary positions. Amongst others he is a fellow of the Centre for Applied Policy Research at the University of Munich and he is a member of the academic board of the Bertelsmann Reform Index.
